Brave Space Alliance

Brave Space Alliance (BSA) is a Black trans-led LGBTQ+ center on the South Side of Chicago that creates and provides affirming and culturally competent services for the entire LGBTQ+ community of Chicago.

In 2017, a small, brave group of individuals founded BSA to fill the significant gap in advocacy, programs, and services that center and are led by Trans and gender non-conforming people. Unfortunately, few organizations like BSA currently exist in Chicago, especially on the South Side. 

​Rooted in our Four Pillars of Dignity of Health, Housing, Food, and Identity, BSA provides dignified essential services, develops programs and initiatives for individuals and families, co-creates community spaces of care and connection, and conducts advocacy on issues that directly impact Trans, LGBQ+, and Black communities.

​We strive to empower, embolden, and educate each other as we build toward the liberation of all marginalized people.
